2007 events

Community support just keeps on growing

2007 proved to be a really great year for the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation.

Our own LBF events continued to grow in popularity and we marked several major milestones on our calendar.

*  At the end of June we held the inaugural SKYCITY Dining for a Difference. 13 top chefs from around the world descended on Auckland for a unique fundraiser which raised more than $210,000 for the LBF

* The first Golf Marrowthon® on the South Island was held in October with the legendary Sir Bob Charles on hand to advise participants as they teed off. He was joined by stars from the world of rugby and cricket

* The LBF's 30th birthday, and the official opening of our new National Office in Auckland, were celebrated with an October party attended by a very special guest - the Governor General, His Excellency, Anand Satyanand.

We were also honoured to be chosen as the beneficiary of a number of community fundraisers over the 12 months, ranging from a sumptuous Chinese New Year dinner and a concert of golden oldie tunes, to a performance by the Cantonese Opera Society and a dance party featuring wild and wonderful wigs.

We are enormously grateful to everyone who staged, or participated, in an event for us. Without you we would not be able to continue our vital support to patients and families living with these diseases.
