Our vision & mission

The Leukaemia & Blood Foundation (LBF) is New Zealand's leading resource of information specifically for patients, family members and friends affected by leukaemia and related blood conditions.

Our work is made possible through fundraising activity and the generous support we receive from individuals, companies, trusts and grants as well as support in kind. We receive no government funding.

In pursuit of a vision to cure and a mission to care, the LBF are committed to improving the quality of life for patients and their families living with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and related blood conditions.

We do this through:

355Theresas-family-1Patient support

Personalised and practical programmes for people diagnosed with these diseases, assessed on an individual needs basis, including practical assistance, counselling, education and support programmes and disease-specific information.

Information / education

Information for patients, families and health professionals, including disease-specific booklets and a lending library of written and audio-visual materials.

Research

Funding scientific and clinical investigation into leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood conditions - nearly $1.6 million to date.

Advocacy

Representing the needs of patients and their families to the Government, related agencies and other relevant bodies. We also act on behalf of patients and families on issues that have arisen in relation to their diagnosis.

Awareness

Increasing public knowledge of these diseases through initiatives such as World Lymphoma Awareness Day.
