Takapuna Beach Classic Hits Christmas Festival
The Takapuna Beach Classic Hits Christmas Festival on 6 December 2008 was a very festive kick start to the Christmas period, especially for the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation who benefitted from the occasion.
Takapuna Beach was transformed into a festive wonderland with a fairground, bouncy castle, street entertainers and bands. One of the highlights of the day was the inaugural Sentinel Stair Climb, where 39 competitors raced up 28 floors and 549 steps to the top of North Shore City’s tallest building. Money raised from the climb was donated to the LBF.
Cafés in Takapuna also did their bit for charity and put on a Lunch for Leukaemia. Diners were encouraged to make a donation or organise a fundraising lunch at one of the popular venues.
