Bell Gully Summer Clerks
For the second year running, Bell Gully has generously donated the time of their Summer Law Clerks as a part of the firm’s commitment to supporting the community.
On Friday 23rd January 2009 36 young and enthusiastic clerks headed out around Auckland and Wellington to give patients and their families a hand with tasks around their houses.
They weeded, pruned, painted, baked, cleaned and polished to the gratitude and delight of the recipients, with one making the comment: “These folk worked so hard in the 26 degree heat to weed and tidy up around our house. What a relief it was to see the transformation.”
The summer clerks thoroughly enjoyed their day and the LBF was pleased to receive lots of positive feedback from them.
One student said: “It was really satisfying that something we could do in a day made so much difference.”
Each year Bell Gully runs the ‘Summer Clerks’ programme for students who are soon to graduate with law degrees from universities around New Zealand. Annually they receive hundreds of applications and only have 40 places available. The successful applicants are given the chance to work as Law Clerks in the Bell Gully offices for three months over the summer.
