Wig Night Out a success
Wig Night Out returned to Auckland on Friday 29 May when more than a hundred partygoers dressed in fabulous wigs of all shapes, colours and sizes danced the night away at Fu Bar and its new sister venue Zen.
DJ’s Charlie B, Emma G and Bevan Keys, among others, donated their time to spin a myriad of musical tunes from House, Psychedelic Rock and Drum & Bass. The night was a fusion of continuous back-to-back sounds in the two venues.
Wig Night Out is the brainchild of Chinda Uch, whose sister Kanika Uch is a leukaemia survivor.
Two years ago, Kanika, an intelligent and bubbly 11 year old was diagnosed with leukaemia. The diagnosis was a massive shock to Kanika, her family and her friends.
Kanika is now in good health thanks to the support and care of Starship Hospital and the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation (LBF).
Her sister Chinda and her family and friends organised Wig Night Out as a way to show solidarity for patients who lose their locks through treatment.
The event also supports the LBF helping to raise funds and awareness. The event raised nearly $1,000 for the LBF.
