Farmers Santa Parade 2010

1106Santa-Parade-DSCN0669For the third year in a row the LBF was selected by Farmers as the official charity for the iconic Farmers Santa Parade.

On Sunday 28 November, 80 volunteers donated their time to support the LBF. The volunteers were on the streets of Auckland when Father Christmas came to town. Dressed in clown costumes, grass skirts and other festive attire, the families, friends and supporters of the LBF all put their hands up to participate in this, one of New Zealand’s iconic events.

This year the volunteers collected donations, gave out stickers and generally helped to raise awareness. Although very hot, the day was a great success and raised over $9,300 for the LBF.

Thank you very much to the all the volunteers, families and friends that came out to support the LBF, to the public who so generously donated and thanks to Farmers for their ongoing support. Happy holidays!

2009 Event

738Clowns-015In 2009, over 140 volunteers dedicated an afternoon to help the LBF. They participated in so many ways including dressing up as clowns and collecting on the day. They walked with collection buckets for the length of the circuit taking donations and helping to raise awareness.

Since leukaemia is New Zealand’s leading childhood cancer, it only seemed appropriate that the LBF was the charity of choice for the biggest kiddies event in the country this summer.

“Christmas is a time when more than ever we focus on those less fortunate,” said Farmers Santa Parade organiser Pam Glaser. “As an event that reaches deep into the lives of families, and especially children, we are pleased to be able to support such a worthy cause.”

The Farmers Santa Parade was a great success thanks to all the volunteers and staff involved in the event. Thank you!

2008 Event

Christmas came early for the LBF this year as the Farmers Santa Parade in Auckland and Hamilton raised a very merry $8,100. Both parades were absolutely spectacular and both cities were packed with families eager to enjoy the festivities and sunshine.

LBF staff, volunteers and patients were out in force, many dressed as clowns, collecting to raise money for our support services.

Pru Etcheverry, Executive Director of the LBF, said: “We were absolutely thrilled with the turn out and the amount of money raised. So many people on the parade routes got to learn about us and the work that we do. The atmosphere was electric and a fun day was had by all. We are so appreciative to Farmers for choosing us as their main charity and to all the people who came out to collect for us and those who donated to such a great cause.”
