Pruning with a Purpose
At Western Springs College sixteen students, teachers, family members shaved their heads for the Shave for a Cure campaign. The event was organised by the cheerful Rhiannon Dilworth, 15 and Matthew Jeffries, 14.
After getting the school’s approval to hold the event, the students rounded up several other students, teachers and family members to join in. The simple idea resulted in a major event to support the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation.
Matthew Jeffries said it was great to be able to do something practical that will help so many people.
The group has raised over $3,000.
A Berry Good Shave
In March Hubbards Foods owner, Dick Hubbard and CEO, Doug Paulin joined forces and shaved for the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation.
The owner and CEO joined several other Hubbards staff who had organised the event. The shaved and dyed their hair as a way to support the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation (LBF). All were cheered and supported by their work mates and onlookers.
The event was a huge success, with 15 people from both Hubbards and Twin Agencies shaving their heads. They received approximately $7,500 in sponsorships and prize donations for their raffles. That total was matched by Hubbards to achieve a grand total of $15,000 to donate to the LBF.
All funds raised during the Shave events will go towards funding key components of LBF’s work.
