Golf Marrowthon®
Can you make the cut? The 100 Hole Challenge...

If you've been searching for the perfect excuse to take time out and hit the fairways, look no further. The LBF can help you practise your swing and raise money for a great cause too.
Registrations are now open for the second Christchurch Golf Marrowthon. The first South Island one, held in October 2007, was such a huge success that plans are already well underway for the 2008 event on Tuesday 14 October, 2008.

The Leukaemia & Blood Foundation Golf Marrowthons® have proved a highlight of the social calendar in Auckland for the last three years, and in Christchurch for the first time in 2007. All money raised through pledges and sponsorship is passed directly to the LBF. So far, this has provided an incredible $400,000 towards our work with patients and their families. But how do the Marrowthons® work?
The Marrowthon® golfers raise funds by receiving pledges from sponsors to complete 100 holes in a single day. Whilst 100 holes is a great challenge, it is highly competitive and surprisingly achievable. The game is new in NZ but has plenty of fans overseas, and is a lot of fun, especially for the golf nuts!
To get around the course and play 100 holes, each golfer has their own Cruiser Bike or golf cart. LBF Chairman Blair Wingfield says special rules apply to speed up play - multiple balls are hit on certain holes, and out of bounds (OB's) and lost balls are not a problem, as the rules allow the player to simply drop another ball and keep on playing.
There are also wonderful prizes on offer.
Following the inaugural Marrowthon® in February 2005, our 100 Hole Challenge is now an ongoing, annual event.
