FAQs

Why are you fundraising?

Every day eight New Zealanders are diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma. Did you know that leukaemia is the most common cancer affecting Kiwi children?

Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand (LBC) has a vision to cure and a mission to care – we are not a government organisation, and rely on our donors for fundraising. This is only possible with the support of generous people in our communities who choose to help.

Why are you asking for ongoing donations?

Every dollar really does count and small ongoing donations can add up to significant help for cancer patients and families. Donations provide emotional and practical support as well as education and research to find a cure.

To ensure more of your gift can get to where it is needed most, we ask that you set up a regular monthly donation from your credit card or straight from your bank account to ours.

How much should I give?

You can choose a gift amount that suits you, and that you can sustain comfortably on an ongoing basis. Many people choose to give around $1 a day, which is $30 a month, but the amount is entirely up to you. You can change or cancel your donation at any time simply by contacting us.

I’ve just received a phone call; why did you phone me?

You recently indicated that you’d like to hear more from LBC so we were calling to provide you with information on how we help people facing blood cancer and to ask if you would consider becoming a regular donor. Talking with supporters on the phone is one of the most effective ways to raise awareness of our work and to inspire people to give.

Who is calling me?

We are working with a company called Unity4. They have a dedicated team that feel passionately about helping people with blood cancer.

How will I know if a call is genuine?

The call should come from a company called Unity4 who are working on behalf of LBC.

They may phone between 9 am and 8 pm on weekdays, and occasionally calls will be made on the weekend.

If you have any doubt that the call may be genuine please take the name of the caller and then phone LBC on 0800 15 10 15 to check if it was a legitimate call.

How can I get in touch?

We would love to hear from you! Please contact Faye Holahan, Head of Marketing and Fundraising on 0800 15 10 15 or email fayeh@leukaemia.org.nz
