Nutrition and blood cancer

Over her 20 plus years as a Dietitian Franica has worked both in NZ and the UK across a variety of areas including primary care, project work and management. Since 2018 she has been the Clinical Lead – Dietetics at Auckland City Hospital where she leads a team of 28 dietitians and is the Dietitian on the haematology ward. In her clinical role Franica supports patients to improve their wellbeing through a collaborative approach improving nutrition and their relationship with food.

Clinically Franica is passionate about the non-diet approach, cognitive behaviour therapy and improving counselling/communication skills for dietitians. She has been and continues to be involved in lecturing and facilitating workshops on these topics for dietetic students and dietitians. In 2011, Franica completed a PGCert in Health Sciences in CBT and in 2016 her Masters of Dietetics evaluating the effectiveness of the non-diet approach to improve people’s food behaviours and relationships.
