LBC received a substantial donation from the Bone Marrow for Life Trust, following the passing of Angela Sunkel in late 2014. Angela, with her family and friends had been fundraising for specialised treatment with all funds going into the Bone Marrow for Life Trust. Sadly, Angela passed away before the funding could be utilised. LBC has set up ‘Angela’s Fund’ with the donated funds being used to provide extra support and comfort for patients and their families living with blood cancer in the Waikato Region. This includes a range of services available on the haematology ward at Waikato Hospital and, in 2019, a complete overhaul of the ward furnishings, complete with giant colourful and scenic murals
