World Cancer Day

4 February 2022 -

The 2022 focus for World Cancer Day is closing the gap in cancer care, addressing equity issues around the world.

In Aotearoa New Zealand we have our share of inequitable outcomes, and Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand’s Support Services team around the country work hard to ensure we help to address these issues for blood cancer patients and their whanau.

From diagnosis to post-treatment, our team of health professionals make sure we are there to provide individually tailored support.  As an NGO supporting haematology patients, we step in where the DHBs cannot and fill those gaps in cancer care.  From symptom awareness and education to financial and mental health support for patients and whanau – we try and reach all those who need us in all corners of Aotearoa.    Whether it is getting patients to hospital for treatment, or visiting a family in need of support, or running groups for children, online or in person, we adapt our service to meet their needs.  We advocate for equitable treatment for all New Zealanders, and fund research for better treatments and cures for blood cancers.
