Leukaemia Appeal Week 2010

1067Ryan_78_web2This 1-7 November was Leukaemia Appeal Week, the LBF’s national appeal to support patients and families living with blood cancer or a related blood condition.

Did you know that every day, 6 New Zealanders are diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukaemia? This Leukaemia Appeal Week, our ‘leukaemia champions’ are sharing their stories to raise awareness about blood cancers. They are calling on you to donate to help the patients and families we support.

Support patients and families living with blood cancers and conditions. The LBF does not receive government funding. We rely on the kind support of individuals like you.

• Every day, 6 New Zealanders are diagnosed with a blood cancer or condition like leukaemia; that's about 2,200 New Zealanders a year
• Leukaemia is the most common childhood cancer
• Blood cancer can strike anyone, anywhere, of any age, at any time, without warning
• Often immediate treatment is required and that treatment can continue for months or even years
• Being diagnosed with a blood cancer can have a financial impact on the patients and families
• So many of us know someone who has been affected by leukaemia
• It is estimated that there are 10,000 New Zealanders living with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma or a related blood condition

The LBF helps patients and their families living with blood cancers or conditions get the information and support they need. Your donation will go towards • providing personalised patient support services • funding research into treatments and cures • sharing information • helping to raise awareness and • advocating on behalf of patients.
